Agoda Growth Program (AGP) and AGX: costs, rules and a Rupiah example

An owner guide to Agoda's paid visibility programmes in 2026, AGP and AGX: what each one is, what Agoda says they cost, the trade-offs, and how to measure in Rupiah what they cost and bring.

Agoda keeps asking you to pay a little more for each booking. What do you get for it? The Agoda Growth Program (AGP) is Agoda's long-term paid marketing programme. You pay an extra commission on each booking, called a "cost per booking". In return, Agoda boosts your ranking, spends more on ads for you and gives you a Preferred Partner badge. Agoda Growth Express (AGX) is its flexible, campaign-based sibling.

AGP is broad and runs for months. AGX is targeted and can start or stop any time. Both can bring more guests. Both also take a bigger slice of every booking they touch. This guide shows what each one costs, the rules, and a simple Rupiah sum to set the extra cost against the extra bookings. All Agoda facts come from Agoda's own Partner Hub, as of October 2026.

What is the Agoda Growth Program (AGP)?

Agoda calls AGP its "most powerful and comprehensive long-term marketing solution". According to Agoda's AGP guide (opens in new tab), every plan includes:

  • A Preferred Partner badge. It shows on the search results page and your property page.
  • A ranking boost on Agoda. Your property can appear higher on Agoda's website and app.
  • More ad spending for you. Agoda bids more for your property on metasearch sites, such as Google Hotels, and on pay-per-click ads. Metasearch sites compare prices from many booking sites.
  • Affiliate exposure. Agoda shows your property through its partner network, such as airlines and banks.

Agoda also says there are no pay-per-click charges for you. Your chosen cost per booking is the budget limit.

The three AGP plans and what Agoda says they cost

Agoda's page lists three plans. These are Agoda's own figures, as of October 2026. They are on top of your normal contracted commission.

AGP planCost per booking (Agoda's figure)What it adds
Basic10%Badge, ranking boost, more ad spend, affiliate exposure
Standard12%All of Basic, plus a 30% discount on Sponsored Listing
Premium15%All of Standard, plus a one-time free AGX credit grant

Sponsored Listing is another paid Agoda product. It places you in the top results for chosen searches.

What does "on top of your normal commission" mean in real money? Say your contract with Agoda already takes a share of each booking. That share is your normal commission. AGP Basic adds 10% more. So on a Rp1,000,000 booking, AGP Basic costs Rp100,000 extra, on top of what Agoda already takes. If you want to see how your normal OTA costs add up first, read our guide to OTA costs and direct bookings (opens in new tab).

What is Agoda Growth Express (AGX)?

Agoda's AGX guide (opens in new tab) calls it Agoda's "most dynamic growth tool". You create campaigns and choose who to target:

  • Stay dates. For example, a long weekend or a local festival.
  • Traveller origin. International, Asia inbound, domestic, or chosen countries.
  • Lead time. How far ahead guests book. For example, last-minute bookers. Our guide to hotel booking lead time (opens in new tab) explains how to read this for your own property.
  • Weekday or weekend.

You choose the budget as a percentage. That percentage is your cost per booking for that campaign. Agoda says you only pay on departed bookings from the campaign. A departed booking is one where the guest has checked out. If a booking is cancelled, you are not charged.

AGX campaigns cannot be paused. You can edit or delete them at any time, and create a new one later.

The rules to know before you join AGP

As of October 2026, Agoda's pages set these rules:

  1. Who can join. Agoda's webinar recap (opens in new tab) says all partners can self-sign up in YCS. YCS is Agoda's extranet. Our Agoda YCS guide (opens in new tab) covers logging in.
  2. The free trial. First-time joiners can try AGP free for 2 weeks, once per property. After that, it turns into the paid plan you picked, unless you opt out before the trial ends.
  3. The 90-day minimum. Agoda says joining any plan means a mandatory 90-day participation period. After that you can ask to opt out. Plan this before you join.
  4. Which bookings are charged. Agoda says all bookings made after the start date and during the campaign count as AGP bookings. The one exception is bookings with Beds Network static rates.
  5. Changing later. Changes to your plan or payment method must be requested and are subject to Agoda's approval.

What are the trade-offs?

AGP charges on all bookings in the campaign. That includes guests who would have booked you anyway. It pays only if the extra bookings cover the extra cost on every booking. The 90-day minimum means a campaign that adds few bookings still costs you at least three months.

AGX charges only on campaign bookings. It is easier to test and stop, but a poorly targeted campaign can still cost money for little gain.

Both reduce your net income per booking. So the question is never "will I get more bookings?". It is "will I earn more after the extra cost?"

How to measure the extra cost of AGP or AGX

This check works for any paid OTA boost. Use your own numbers.

  1. Find the extra rate. For AGP, it is your plan's cost per booking. For AGX, it is the budget % you set.
  2. Find the revenue it applies to. For AGP, your Agoda revenue during the campaign. For AGX, only the campaign bookings.
  3. Work out the extra cost. Multiply step 2 by step 1.
  4. Work out the break-even. Divide the extra cost by your average booking value after all fees. That is the number of extra bookings you need to break even.
  5. Check it is realistic. Compare it with the empty nights you have in that period.
  6. Measure after. Agoda's dashboards show campaign room-nights, revenue and cost. For AGP, Agoda also shows return on ad spend (ROAS). ROAS means revenue divided by what the programme cost.

Agoda also offers Agoda Intelligence. As of October 2026, Agoda's AGP page says bundling it gives a 1% commission rebate on each AGP plan. If you use it, include it in step 1.

"Average booking value" works best when you know your average daily rate (ADR). ADR is your room revenue divided by the room-nights you sold. Our guide to occupancy, ADR and RevPAR (opens in new tab) explains each number in plain words.

A worked example in Rupiah

This is a hypothetical example, not a real property. The numbers are made up to show the sum. Use your own.

Imagine a 10-room villa in Ubud. Over 90 days, Agoda brings it 40 bookings. Each booking is worth Rp1,500,000. So Agoda revenue for those 90 days is Rp60,000,000. In this example, the villa's normal Agoda commission is 15%.

Testing AGP Basic (10%). AGP charges on all bookings in the campaign, not only the new ones.

StepSumResult
Extra cost on the 40 bookings you already getRp60,000,000 x 10%Rp6,000,000
What one extra booking leaves you after both commissionsRp1,500,000 x (100% minus 15% minus 10%)Rp1,125,000
Extra bookings needed to break evenRp6,000,000 divided by Rp1,125,0005.3, so 6 bookings

So AGP must bring at least 6 extra bookings in 90 days just to cover its cost. That is 15% more Agoda bookings than before. Now look at your calendar. Do you have enough empty nights for 6 more bookings? If most of your nights already sell, the answer is probably no.

Testing AGX (say 8%). Now imagine the same villa has empty weekdays in a quiet month. It runs an AGX campaign for those stay dates only, with an 8% budget. The campaign brings 4 bookings at Rp1,200,000 each. Agoda charges only on those 4 bookings once the guests check out. The AGX cost is 4 x Rp1,200,000 x 8% = Rp384,000. Those nights would have stayed empty, so most of the money is new. That is why AGX is often easier to test on clear date gaps.

A boost on nights you would sell anyway costs money. A boost on nights that would stay empty can earn money. Our guide to minimum stay and booking gaps (opens in new tab) shows how to spot those gaps first.

Step by step: test AGP or AGX safely

  1. Record your "before" numbers. Note Agoda bookings, room-nights and net revenue for recent months.
  2. Fix your content first. Agoda advises checking your Content Score in YCS. Photos, descriptions and policies affect whether boosted guests book.
  3. Test one programme at a time. Running AGX and the AGP trial together mixes up the numbers.
  4. Set the campaign. For AGP, go to Growth programs, then Agoda Growth Program. For AGX, go to Growth programs, then Agoda Growth Express, and set budget and targets.
  5. Set a reminder. For the AGP trial, set a reminder before the 2 weeks end. Check your numbers before it turns paid.
  6. Measure. Compare net revenue with your "before" numbers, for the same season if you can.
  7. Keep, change or stop. Edit or delete AGX campaigns. For AGP after 90 days, request an opt-out through the Partner Portal help button.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Forgetting the trial end date. It turns into a paid plan with a 90-day minimum.
  • Judging on room-nights only. More nights at a lower net rate can mean less money.
  • Running AGX on dates you already sell out. You pay for guests you would get anyway.
  • Ignoring your other channels. If Agoda grows, check whether another channel shrank.
  • Joining AGP in your busiest season. You pay the extra rate on bookings that would come anyway. Test in a slower period, when there is room to grow.
  • Letting the boost hide a weak listing. More views do not help if the photos are old or the price looks high next to other sites. Check why room prices differ across OTAs (opens in new tab) before you pay for visibility.
  • Comparing different seasons. A good result in high season after a quiet "before" period proves nothing. Compare the same months, or the same weeks last year.

How Kiyo helps you manage rates and restrictions during AGP or AGX

Kiyo does not switch AGP or AGX on or off. Both stay in Agoda's YCS. Kiyo handles the rates and restrictions a campaign sits on, for Agoda and your other channels in one place.

  • One rate calendar. You set the rate for each date in Kiyo's rate calendar, or for a date range with bulk update. When you click Push to OTAs and confirm, the rates go to Agoda and your other connected channels. Nothing goes out on save, so you can check a campaign week first.
  • Restrictions by date. Stop sell, minimum stay, maximum stay, closed to arrival and closed to departure sit in the same calendar and go out with the same push. If an AGX campaign targets a weekday gap, you can lower the minimum stay for those dates only.
  • Before and after, by channel. Kiyo's revenue dashboard has a Channels view with gross, commission, net and booking count for the period you choose. Run it for the 90 days before AGP and the 90 days of the plan, and the extra commission sits next to the extra bookings.
  • Agoda bookings in the same calendar. Kiyo connects to Agoda with your property code, as one of 75+ OTAs. Campaign bookings land in the same calendar as the rest.

What the Kiyo team sets up with you

During setup, we map your Agoda rooms and rate plans with you, so a rate you push lands on the right room in Agoda. Each property has its own WhatsApp group with the Kiyo team, with support in Bahasa Indonesia. To see how a channel manager keeps rates in line across OTAs, read our hotel channel manager guide (opens in new tab).

Kiyo costs from Rp40k per room per month (opens in new tab), and every plan includes the channel manager that sends these rates and restrictions to Agoda.

Free setup. Pay from go-live, and if Kiyo isn't right for you in the first 14 days, we refund you in full.
